The Professional and Scholarly Publishing (PSP) Division of the Association of American Publishers (AAP) announced the winners of the 2008 American Publishers Awards for Professional and Scholarly Excellence (the PROSE Awards) at an awards luncheon during the PSP Annual Conference at the Renaissance Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C.

Rob Kapilow’s Jabberwocky premieres in Vancouver, BC, on January 18, 2009, as part of Music in the Morning’s Family Musik® series. Rob Kapilow, a chorus of young people, and choreographer Matt Kent’s Pickle Shoes Dance Company galumph the himbledy-jimbledy of Lewis Carroll’s uffish tale, Jabberwocky, into a new snicker-snack.
Full of the frumious nonsense and mimsy gimble that has given the poem its beamish wabe, Kapilow and his manxome foes whiffle through the tugley wood and burble as Jabberwocks in this world premiere.
Don’t miss this slithy tove as it follows the Bandersnatch to New York’s Lincoln Center on April 25 and then outgrabes the mome raths at Boston’s Celebrity Series on May 9. Rob Kapilow and Matt Kent discuss Jabberwocky. Here, you can listen to Rob and Matt Kent discussing the creation of Jabberwocky, and you can view a video of Matt Kent's Pickle Shoes Dance Company rehearsing a small section of the work.

Rob Kapilow’s All You Have to Do Is Listen: Music from the Inside Out, an engaging new book about listening to music, is now available in book stores and online.
Kapilow’s accessible and refreshing approach is designed to help today’s listeners – whether newcomers to classical music or experienced concertgoers – to understand music from the inside out – helping readers become great listeners by explaining and expanding on his belief that the core of real listening has less to do with musical terminology and historical facts than with our ability to pay attention and to listen closely.
Kapilow demonstrates in this book how to listen to music from the inside out, from the composer’s point of view; he highlights the things composers intended to be heard but that listeners so often miss.
